Problem
DeFi primitives (AMMs, yield farms, staking vaults) share well-known mechanical patterns but require correct implementation across differing execution environments. Building reference implementations on both Ethereum (EVM) and Solana (SVM) surfaces the concrete differences in account models, reentrancy surfaces, and reward accrual math that get glossed over in high-level protocol descriptions.
Approach
- Reference existing standards over novel design: followed Uniswap V2 factory/router topology for the AMM and OpenZeppelin patterns for access control, since deviation from audited topologies is the most common source of exploitable bugs.
- Per-second accrual over per-block: reward math uses wall-clock seconds to keep incentives consistent across chains with differing block times.
- Cross-ecosystem parity: built equivalent functionality in both Solidity and Rust/Anchor to expose where the same economic logic requires different safety patterns (explicit account passing in Anchor vs. implicit
msg.senderin Solidity). - Gas-optimized batch operations for harvest/compound flows, since per-user interactions dominate operational cost in yield farms.
- Timelock-gated emergency paths rather than direct owner escape hatches to limit governance risk.
Implementation
AMM DEX (Automated Market Maker)
- Implemented constant product formula (
x * y = k) for token swaps - Built multi-hop routing for optimal trade execution across liquidity pools
- Integrated slippage protection and deadline parameters for user safety
- Deployed factory/router pattern following Uniswap V2 architecture
Yield Farming Mechanism
- Designed reward distribution using per-second accrual model
- Implemented multiplier boosts for long-term stakers
- Built harvest and compound functions with gas-optimized batch operations
Token Staking System
- Created flexible and locked staking vaults with configurable lock periods
- Implemented penalty mechanisms for early withdrawal
- Built governance weight calculation based on stake duration
Liquidity Pool Management
- Developed LP token minting/burning with proportional share tracking
- Implemented fee collection and distribution to liquidity providers
- Built emergency withdrawal functions with timelock governance
Outcome
- Deployed multiple DeFi protocols spanning AMM, yield farming, and staking across Ethereum and Solana ecosystems.
- Comprehensive test coverage with a security-first design posture.
- Internal security review completed with no critical vulnerabilities found.
